b. 1992, Hong Kong. Lives and works in Hong Kong
Born in 1992, Emmy Wan started to learn ink drawing from master Li Qiangsheng in 2004, the first time since she picked up drawing at 5 years old. She left Hong Kong in 2010 to study pharmaceutical master degree from the University of Manchester, but she did not give up ink drawing during this period. She encountered a traffic incident at the UK in 2016, and thus suffered physical complications and mental illnesses. During the hiatus from work for the recovery, she has been practising ink drawing and found that the repetitive strokes gave her patience, strength and confidence to move on and overcome obstacles.
Even though she works full time in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, she continues to draw. Her artworks mostly focus on plants and animals as she always finds comfort in nature.
